Northbrook, IL – BCDVideo today announced the release of their BCD4540V IP Video Server offering up to 180TB of IP video storage housed in a 5U rack-mount chassis.
As part of the Nova Series of IP Video Servers, the BCD4540V -- code-named “Big Bertha” -- incorporates all BCDVideo standard features; 6G SAS IP video storage, Solid State Drives (SSD) for the Operating System and customer’s choice of Video Management System, Fault Redundant Architecture, and System Scalability.
“Having 60 drive bays allows us to set a new barometer for combined server/storage density,” states Dan Molnar, BCDVideo’s Solution Architect. “By utilizing RAID 50 or 60, we are able to surpass the 16 disk drive limitations of RAID 5 and 6. RAID 50 and 60 are great alternatives for supporting larger volume sizes.”
The Big Bertha has been beta-tested in a number of key environments that require long retention times of the storage video. Tom Larson, BCDVideo’s Director of Global Accounts adds, “The flexibility within the system architecture allows us to scale up 180TB of raw storage for our largest Video Management Software partners. The initial response from integrators servicing casinos, citywide surveillance, and government accounts has been quite enthusiastic.”
All BCD4540V systems are powered by an HP infrastructure and covered by a worldwide five-year on-site warranty. The 240TB models are expected to be released in May. More information is available at www.bcdvideo.com/bigbertha.
