NEXCOM Introduces NViS 6712 NVR Platform for High-Capacity Video and AI Analytics
NEXCOM has announced the NViS 6712, a 2U network video recorder (NVR) hardware platform designed for system integrators developing high-capacity video recording, monitoring and AI analytics systems.
The platform combines 12 hot-swappable hard drive bays supporting up to 312 TB of raw storage with dual NVMe SSDs, Intel Core Series 2 P-core processing and PCIe Gen5 expansion for configurable AI acceleration. The architecture is intended to support continuous video recording alongside video management software (VMS), playback, databases and AI processing.
As cameras generate higher-resolution streams and video increasingly supports production monitoring, worker safety, search and analytics, the NViS 6712 separates high-volume video retention from latency-sensitive applications to reduce input/output contention between recording and data-intensive workloads.
The system's 12 3.5-inch HDD bays provide up to 312 TB of raw JBOD capacity for camera streams and long-term retention. Two M.2 PCIe NVMe SSDs support VMS applications, databases, metadata and AI cache, while an additional M.2 SATA SSD provides dedicated storage. System integrators can also configure a hardware RAID controller through PCIe expansion for applications requiring data protection.
The NViS 6712 supports Intel Core Series 2 processors with a P-core-only architecture, with configurations offering up to 12 Performance-cores, 24 processing threads and a maximum turbo frequency of 5.9 GHz. These resources support concurrent recording, VMS, playback, database, video processing and analytics workloads.
For AI acceleration, a PCIe Gen5 x16 expansion slot allows integrators to select graphics or accelerator hardware based on deployment requirements. The platform supports dual-slot accelerator cards up to 260 mm long, two expansion slots wide and up to 250 W, with supported Intel and NVIDIA graphics options. An M.2 interface also supports the Hailo-8 AI accelerator.
Combined with Intel OpenVINO and Intel Quick Sync Video, these options support applications including object recognition, event detection, image analysis and intelligent video search. An optional riser provides two PCIe x8 interfaces for configurations requiring both a hardware RAID controller and a compatible single-slot graphics card.
Beyond traditional surveillance, NEXCOM says the NViS 6712 can support smart factory and industrial monitoring applications, including production-line monitoring, worker safety and anomaly detection. Locally stored video can support historical investigations and further analysis, while visual data collected at the edge can complement machine and sensor data for operational analytics and digital twin environments.
The platform can also serve as a local visual data collection and preprocessing node for Physical AI workflows. HDD storage retains large volumes of footage, while NVMe storage supports active workloads. Applications and optional accelerators can handle recognition, labeling and preprocessing before selected data moves to downstream AI training or analytics systems.
In cloud-connected deployments, the NViS 6712 can keep high-volume video stored and processed on-site while transmitting selected footage, events, metadata or alerts to centralized or cloud applications. This approach reduces the need to continuously transmit raw video across the network while maintaining remote access and centralized visibility.
“The challenge has evolved beyond merely recording vast amounts of video,” stated Steve Yang, General Manager of NEXCOM Smart Vision (GreenBase). “In smart factories and AI-enabled environments, that video is becoming operational data that needs to remain accessible for monitoring, search, and analytics. The NViS 6712 gives system integrators the flexibility to configure systems around specific application requirements and adapt them as workloads evolve.”
The NEXCOM NViS 6712 is available now.
