Genetec Releases Security Center 4.0
March 09, 2010
Montreal, Canada, March 9, 2010 – Genetec, a leader in innovative IP security and public safety solutions, announces the release of the latest version of its unified security platform, Security Center 4.0. The Security Center now seamlessly unifies Genetec’s Omnicast IP video surveillance and Synergis IP access control systems with its AutoVu IP license plate recognition (LPR) system, offering customers a single point from which to monitor their security and safety systems.
One of the most significant enhancements is the unification of AutoVu, Genetec’s IP LPR system, within the Security Center. AutoVu LPR system users will now enjoy access to Genetec’s cutting-edge and intuitive client application, the Security Desk, as well as the Security Center’s enterprise-level functionality such as seamless scalability over IP. Moreover, users can now centralize monitoring, reporting, and data mining for all their fixed LPR installations using the Security Center in tandem with the AutoVu Sharp camera.
Also, Genetec’s mobile LPR solution, the AutoVu Patroller, can be installed as a standalone application for in-vehicle law enforcement and parking enforcement. In this case, the Security Center offers AutoVu users a single back-end user interface from which they can monitor their fixed and mobile LPR applications as well as conduct advanced reporting.
“This latest release of the Security Center represents another major step towards furthering Genetec’s vision of true unification of all security and safety applications,” says Jimmy Palatsoukas, Senior Product Manager at Genetec. “The Security Center 4.0 will allow Genetec’s customers to benefit from synergies associated with managing and monitoring several security and safety systems from a single client workstation. Consolidated reporting, alarm management, and system health monitoring ensures operators have a complete picture of their security and safety system.”
The IP access control module within the Security Center, Synergis, has been augmented with a new cardholder management task, an enhanced visitor management interface, superior alarm monitoring and handling capabilities, and much more. The enhanced cardholder management task, for example, consolidates all cardholder information within a single task, renders cardholder searches more efficient through the use of USB card readers and single swipe searching, and embeds an intuitive temporary card management workflow. All enhancements are in line with Genetec’s goal of providing users with the most intuitive, operator-friendly, and efficient interface in the security industry.
Other enhancements to the Security Center include an innovative feature called Visual Tracking that uses some of the latest high-technology concepts such as augmented reality. Visual Tracking allows operators to intuitively switch from a single camera view to one or more adjacent cameras with the simple click of a mouse button. Whether tracking a suspicious individual in real-time or simply reviewing playback video, operators no longer have to search for adjacent cameras. Visual cues inside a video display tile allow operators to seamlessly move to an adjacent camera when the target leaves the current field of view, all within the same video tile, and for both live and recorded video.
The Security Center will be showcased at ISC West, booth 21051, from March 24-26, 2010, in Las Vegas and at IFSEC, booth 4C30, from May 10-13, 2010, in Birmingham, UK.
