    ComNet has expanded its Ethernet product line by introducing a 1000FX fiber optic media converter with Power over Ethernet (PoE). The CNGE2MCPOE provides a PoE function to compatible peripheral devices and supports the latest IEEE 802.3at PoE standard for use for as Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE), supplying up to 25 Watts of power. Designed for use in harsh environments, these products allow 10/100/1000TX Ethernet data to be transmitted optically over either multimode or single mode optical fiber, by application-specific, optional SFP modules. With many end-users’ desire to exceed the existing 100 meter transmission distance limitation of CAT-5e cabling, this PoE solution can extend the transmission distance significantly with no loss of bandwidth.
