Deputy Chief Henry King. Jr

Deputy Chief Henry King, Jr. boasts 30 years of extensive experience in law enforcement, currently serving as the Chief of Police for the Town of Edenton since May 2018. His career began at the Rocky Mount Police Department in 2000, where he advanced through various roles including uniform patrol, bicycle officer, and School Resource Officer (SRO). Chief King's leadership journey saw him rise to Lieutenant of the Professional Standards Division and Captain of the Criminal Investigation Division. He also serves as a Task Force Officer for the North Carolina Secretary of State Office and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Chief King's commitment extends to serving on the Executive Board of the North Carolina Internal Affairs Investigation Association, as a Commissioner on both the North Carolina Sentencing Commission and the North Carolina Locksmith Licensing Board, and as a Past President of the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from North Carolina Central University and is a graduate of N.C. State University's Administrative Officers Management Program, Boston University's Senior Management Institute for Police, and the FBI National Academy Session 283.
