Irving, TX – October 10, 2019 – ABLOY USA will exhibit at two important events this month with the focus on high security solutions for the critical infrastructure market. A full complement of products for the commercial locksmith security market will be displayed at the Yankee Security Convention (booth 68), October 18-20 in Sturbridge, MA.

From October 20-23, the new ABLOY PROTEC2 CLIQTM Connect for flexible access control will be the center of attention at the AWWA Water Infrastructure Conference (booth 111) in St. Louis. It’s the ideal product at the right time considering impending deadlines the water industry is facing in 2020.

Ahead of the Yankee event, ABLOY’s commitment to improving the process for locksmiths to gain easy access to high security and key control products has led to expanding its distributor network and partnership opportunities in 2019. Supporting these efforts has improved access to products for locksmith customers in vertical markets – such as utilities, airports and rail transportation, among others – and especially those who require larger volume products.

“We had a dramatic shift in our approach to the locksmith security market, and we have fully embraced the distribution companies across the U.S. and revamped our program,” explained Ray Marquis, ABLOY Vertical Market Manager, Distribution & OEM.

“We have crafted a package that allows locksmiths and professional end-users to engage in selling and using the ABLOY PROTEC2 locking system. The Yankee Security Conference has evolved into an elite security show. It’s also why we will feature the ABLOY PROTEC2 starter package that’s available through our distribution channel.”

Now available, the ABLOY PROTEC2 starter kit is an affordable solution for commercial locksmiths to offer superior high security locks for critical infrastructure and harsh weather applications. It includes a key machine, an assortment of locking solutions, 100 key blanks and more, giving locksmiths a unique key design that prevents 3-D printing and nearly two million different key combinations, among other benefits.

“Critical infrastructure security is becoming a focal point for all of our markets,” said Marquis. “There has been a seismic shift in the way each market is approaching security and deploying new technology to meet the newer stringent requirements.”

Tighter restrictions and new guidelines are becoming the new norm. ABLOY USA has attended AWWA Water Infrastructure Conferences for many years, and has helped water utilities secure their critical infrastructure assets including pump houses, lift stations, treatment plants, wells, valves and hatches.

High quality ABLOY PROTEC2 mechanical locks and ABLOY PROTEC2 CLIQ™ electromechanical smart locks will be featured at this year’s event in St. Louis. ABLOY’s Chuck Whisler says that considering the important deadlines the industry is facing within the next six months, those products and the Super Weather Proof padlock are perfect solutions to secure gates, control houses and other assets.

“The water industry needs to fill out threat assessments for vulnerabilities by the EPA, which is demanding that plans are in place by March 2020 or water utilities will face fines up to $25,000 per day,” informed Whisler, ABLOY Vertical Market Manager, Utility & Transportation.

“Most security people that I talk to in the water industry believe it’s a matter of time before they will see more regulations or standards regarding physical security at critical sites. That’s where we can help. From our high security UL467 rated mechanical locks to the CLIQ smart locks with audit capabilities and programmable keys, we have solutions that fit nearly every budget.”

CLIQ Connect is an access control mobile app that can help water utilities to define operational or procedural controls and address physical security risks and vulnerabilities. It authorizes and tracks individuals requiring physical access inside security perimeters and improves overall efficiency.

Facility managers have the ability to update, amend, renew or revoke access rights remotely from the CLIQ Web Manager software. Mobile workers open their CLIQ Connect app for the updated access permissions to be instantly transferred to their programmable CLIQ key. Lost keys can be activated without needing mechanical keying, and both keys and locks provide the audit trail that Whisler mentioned.

The ABLOY® PROTEC2 Super Weather Proof (SWP) padlock is regarded as the world’s toughest electromechanical locking solution. Its case hardened boron steel shackles provide rugged durability and protection against forcing, picking and vandalism. SWP also has proven itself through challenging corrosion tests, ensuring operation in extreme hot and cold conditions as well as dirt, dust, grime, and moisture including salt water.
