Biometric door lock replacement system targeted for self-installed, DIY market
Minneapolis, MN - Vigilante Personal Protection Systems will begin U.S. shipments in September 2006 of the CFS-200 “do-it-yourself” replacement lock set featuring fingerprint verification. The system was designed for easy replacement installation directly into an existing door. Designed for small to mid-sized businesses, the CFS-200 is ideal for securing room access without the need for traditional keys or access cards. Applications range from employee entrances to supply rooms, executive areas, warehouse/supply rooms, secured areas, and more.

“No two fingerprints have ever been found alike in many billions of human and automated computer comparisons,” said David Happe, President of Vigilante Personal Protection Systems. “We’ve taken a commercial/industrial design of a professional access control system, and simplified the installation to a localized door. In the past, both cost and complexity have companies from implementing biometric security into their businesses. The CFS-200 is an easy replacement providing the latest in fingerprint recognition technology, combined with an exportable audit trail so companies can document who is coming and going, and when. Professionally installed access control systems cost tens of thousands of dollars. Our CFS-200 system can be installed in any business for less than $500 per door.”

The CFS-200, with a estimated street retail of $449, stores up to 1,000 fingerprint access codes (fingerprint + id code), and confirms or denies access with less than 1 second verification time. An emergency override system uses a standard key for manual access. Voice prompts guide the user through the fingerprint scan, and audibly alert the user to the access status. The battery life is longer than one year based on 15 accesses per day on standard alkaline batteries. And, an optional data kit allows you to create a customized activity audit trail using a DB0/USB Connector. The lever handle is fire-rated and ADA compliant.

The CFS-200 is expected to ship to targeted distribution in September 2006. Additional models, including a deadbolt lock system with fingerprint access (CFS-100) , as well as a networked version (CFS-200N) will be announced throughout the remainder of 2006.
