Gunnebo Entrance Control has introduced HiSec Nova, a new security portal that incorporates three newly developed technologies focused on occupancy detection, drive control and system intelligence.

Designed for organizations seeking controlled authorized entry without ballistic or attack-rated protection, HiSec Nova combines advanced detection capabilities with a compact footprint while aiming to simplify installation and servicing.

According to the company, HiSec Nova was developed around three priorities: detection accuracy, aesthetic design and ease of ownership. The platform was created to improve security portal performance while making installation, maintenance and integration into different environments more straightforward.

"We wanted to take a fresh look at how a security portal performs, how it is maintained and how it can be integrated into different environments," said Emiliano Ciantra, Product Manager at Gunnebo Entrance Control. "The result is a system that simplifies installation and servicing while delivering the levels of detection and control organisations expect from an advanced security portal."

At the core of HiSec Nova is Visira™, a newly developed occupancy detection technology available in two configurations. Using high-density digital sensing technology and engineered algorithms, Visira verifies occupancy within the portal to support single-person detection.

For applications requiring additional analysis, the Visira™ Omni configuration combines dual-camera technology with AI-driven image analytics to provide volumetric 3D passage analysis and people counting. According to the company, the system can distinguish between individuals and carried items to help maintain detection accuracy in more complex access scenarios.

HiSec Nova also features SmoothDrive™, a newly developed drive mechanism designed to deliver controlled, near-silent portal movement. The system includes integrated impact detection intended to support user safety and long-term durability.

Supporting the platform is NexusCore™, a new electronics architecture that processes information in milliseconds to enable rapid system responses while coordinating sensing, control and mechanical functions throughout the portal.

"The development of HiSec Nova provided an opportunity to rethink several of the core technologies that sit behind security portal performance," Ciantra said. "By bringing together new approaches, we have been able to enhance performance while simplifying installation, servicing and day-to-day operation."

He added that the company also focused on reducing complexity for installation and maintenance teams by improving access to key electrical and mechanical components, supporting faster installation, simpler servicing and reduced maintenance requirements over the lifetime of the portal.
