Verkada Live Translation
Verkada Live Translation delivers real-time, two-way translation between visitors at the intercom and receivers answering the call.
In fast-paced environments like airports, hospitals, and schools, language gaps can create delays and frustration. Live Translation helps make communication at the door effortless by allowing visitors and receivers to communicate in different languages.
Live Translation supports 10 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Hindi, and Russian. Once enabled, the system automatically detects a “language mismatch.” If a caller begins speaking Spanish but the receiver’s preferred language is English, for example, the system identifies the discrepancy and prompts the receiver to toggle on Live Translation.
To help ensure clarity, Live Translation provides both translated voice output and captions. The receiver sees the text in real time while simultaneously hearing a natural, human-sounding voice translation. Using audio ducking technology, the feature lowers the volume of the original speaker while playing the translated voice, allowing the receiver to hear the translation without losing the context of the caller’s original tone and emotion.
Live Translation calls are logged on the Global Events page with an icon indicating that Live Translation was used. Administrators can access transcripts in each speaker’s original language, as well as three audio tracks for historical calls: the original audio captured by the intercom, the original audio captured by the receiver, and the receiver’s translated audio.
