p>The town of Holland, Mich., has approved the initial reading of an ordinance that could result in fines for home and business owners who have repeated false alarms.
According to a published report in The Holland Sentinel, the ordinance would allow alarm owners three false alarms a year without penalty. The subsequent three false alarms would cost residents and businesses $50 for each violation of the ordinance. The fine increases to $75 for any three false alarms beyond that. For those who have 10 or more false alarms, the fine reaches a maximum of $100 for each violation.
The ordinance is set for a final reading next month.
