System can send-receive alarm data, also serve as verification channel with customer for alarms

Security alarm monitoring firm Criticom Monitoring Services (CMS) made news today before the opening of ISC West 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The firm today announced that it will be offering a digital wireless two-way voice emergency response solution for alarm dealers. The connection can serve not only as the primary alarm channel to the central station, but also as an alarm verification voice phone call to the customer.

Criticom has partnered with alarm communications firm Alarm.com to offer a fully wireless, GSM-based solution to provide an audio link to customer's protected homes and businesses. The solution doesn't require a phone line for service, unlike traditional alarm monitoring connections. The solution uses the GSM module from Alarm.com with voice enabled, and is integrated with GE Security's alarm control panels, the Concord and Simon XT.

According to Alarm.com the unit allows for what they're calling "always-on" connectivity using web protocol, plus the company's "AirFX" toolkit for making basic service requests that might have previously required a tech be present at the actual alarm system. The company stresses that the communications are encrypted.

The two companies, Criticom and Alarm.com will be showcasing the solution at ISC West, this week in Las Vegas at booth 1093.
