Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Passes Update on Alarm Ordinance

Ordinance spells out details of new alarm permit, false alarm fines
Nov. 2, 2004

The Wilkes-Barre Township, Penn., council approved an ordinance regulating burglar alarms in the township connected to the police department. The permit fee has been set at $100 per alarm system. That cost reflects a 100 percent increase in the alarm permit fee. Previously the permit was set at a cost of $50 in 1998.

Despite earlier reports suggesting that the ordinance increased false alarm fees, SecurityInfoWatch.com has obtained the actual update to the ordinance, and false alarm fees are not adjusted.
