Lambertville, N.J., Considering Increasing Fine for False Alarms

    A report in The Beacon says that the Lambertville, N.J., city council has postponed its proposed raising of the fee schedule for false burglar and fire alarms until after meeting with area businesses.

    The city had proposed raising fines to as much as $500 for systems with three-plus false signals, and to give business only one free false alarm per year, as opposed to the current two false alarms, which get business owners only warnings.

    According to The Beacon, the second false alarm would cost $250, and any after that would cost $500.

    The ordinance is not designed to affect residential alarm systems.
