Hertel looking for new opportunities in the traditional alarm monitoring space as well as in other verticals

SYRACUSE, NEW YORK (May 11, 2016) – Rapid Response, a premier electronic security monitoring services provider headquartered here, announced today the appointment of Morgan Hertel as Vice-President of Technology and Innovation. Jeffrey Atkins, President, announced the appointment, adding “Many believe our record-breaking growth is what led to the expansion of our monitoring centers. The underlying truth is that it is our innovations that forced us to expand… we had to plan for what is yet to come. That included putting the right person in place to drive it.”

Hertel has been with Rapid Response since 2012 and has overseen all teams, focusing on initiatives that have further enhanced Rapid including, but not limited to, the continued development of its Incredible Connectivity Suite of Apps for dealers and customers. Additionally, his work has led to many technological enhancements to the company’s infrastructure and the development of its west coast monitoring center in Corona, CA and the expansion of its headquarters’ facility located here which expected to be completed later this year.

“We’ll be looking for new opportunities in the traditional alarm monitoring space but also in other verticals that have not normally been in our wheelhouse,” Hertel explained.  “Concepts in mobility will be an important focus for us. We’ve been developing services for connected devices since 1996 and for mobile devices for over a decade, but as of three years ago, we weren’t monitoring anything mobile. Today, we’re monitoring nearly 200,000 mobile devices. With world-class hardened monitoring centers designed and built for critical incident handling, we plan on leveraging that experience into other industries and vertical markets.”

Hertel is well known throughout the industry, is a contributor to many industry publications and has served in various capacities in its education programs and in the development of standards. His new role will also involve monitoring trends and emerging standards in the industry, and he will serve as Rapid’s‘ambassador’ to this and other industries in a continuous effort to underscore not only Rapid’s competitive position in the industry but also its dedication to providing leadership in matters thatbenefit all its members.

“I’m very excited about having Morgan in position to spur on the development of new concepts,” Atkinsadded. “We’ve never been satisfied to just put things in place and make them work better than anyone else. We’ve always tried to put things in place that no one else has even thought of, things that, as Morgan says, help us and our Dealers work smarter, not harder. “
