Fire, electrical and building safety event to be held at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas

March 31, 2016 – The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is hosting its annual Conference & Expo at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada, this June 13-16. Widely regarded as the most comprehensive industry event for fire, electrical and building safety, the NFPA Conference & Expo brings together thousands of professionals, from building managers and contractors, to public fire service and enforcement agencies.

This year’s conference features nearly 140 education sessions across 12 tracks, including an all-new wildfire track, with hundreds of product displays from the industry’s leading suppliers. The event offers a unique opportunity to learn directly from industry experts, earn valuable continuing education units, evaluate products, network with peers, and stay current with technological advances.

For the first time, the conference will feature a Discovery District, offering attendees a chance to check out new and emerging technologies impacting the world of fire safety and protection. This hands-on space includes:

Smart Solutions Showcase – Learn about technological advances that serve the fire prevention and first responder communities, including firefighter dispatch systems, GIS locators, advanced building information solutions, distributed sensors, and other innovations that improve communications, community risk reduction, operational efficiencies and overall life safety.

Robotics “Petting Zoo” – Get an up-close look at artificial intelligence for mobile robots, and learn how disaster robotics are increasingly being deployed to help with crisis in our world.

Alternative Fuel Vehicle Showcase – Explore a variety of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs), and learn what first responders need to know when handling AFV collisions so they can react accordingly on-scene and minimize associated safety risks.

Data Analytics “Sandbox” – Visit the data analytics “sandbox” to find out how the fire protection community can collectively capture, share and use data to reduce community risk, foster better efficiencies, enhance first responder safety and create cost savings.

During the conference’s general session on Monday, June 14, multiple speakers will participate in the keynote presentation, “Eyes in the Sky, On the Ground, and Under the Waves,” highlighting the latest prevention, response and monitoring technologies that are making the world a safer place. On Wednesday, June 15, Bart van Leeuwen, “semantic firefighter,” data expert and owner of netage.nl, will also show how “smart” data can help keep communities and firefighters safe.
