Connected Technologies has integrated LoRaWAN wireless sensors with its Connect ONE cloud security management platform, giving security dealers additional options for temperature, humidity and door/window monitoring applications.

The integration was developed in response to a request from a Connect ONE dealer whose customer operates warehouses across the country. Previously, the customer relied on local contractors to install hardwired monitoring systems at each facility. The wireless integration allows the dealer to ship equipment directly to individual locations for a simplified self-installation process.

“A dealer came to us, about to lose a customer to a manufacturer that sells direct,” said Dan Simon, president of Connected Technologies. “The customer needed a system for wine storage monitoring that was easier to install than hardwiring each warehouse. We had the integration in place in a matter of weeks, and it helped the dealer retain the customer and the recurring monthly revenue associated with the account.”

The LoRaWAN wireless sensors provide long-range communication and low battery consumption, with a battery lifespan of more than four years. The technology also incorporates AES encryption for secure data transmission and allows additional devices to be added to the wide-area network.

The monitoring solution includes a combination temperature and humidity sensor as well as separate door/window sensors for monitoring openings.

Through the Connect ONE platform, dealers and customers can receive monitoring alerts through email, SMS and push notifications. The platform also provides log reporting for historical information and compliance recordkeeping.

Additionally, the wireless monitoring system integrates with the dealer's central station receiver to support alarm reporting.

The integration gives Connect ONE dealers another option for addressing customers' environmental monitoring requirements while keeping the solution within the existing cloud security management platform.
