Nominations open for Americas ISLA program

ISC-squared, a non-profit membership body for information security professionals, announced this week that it has opened nominations for its second annual Americas Information Security Leadership Awards (ISLA) program.
According to a statement, the Americas ISLAs, part of the ISC-squared Global Awards Program, recognizes information security workforce improvements, projects and initiatives in both the public and private sectors (with the exception of the U.S. federal government) in several categories including:
- Senior Information Security Professional
- Managerial Professional for an Information Security Project
- Information Security Practitioner
- Up-and-Coming Information Security Professional
"Last year, the judging committee was impressed by the caliber and breadth of nominations they received from eight countries throughout the Americas region," said W. Hord Tipton, executive director of ISC-squared. "We were pleased with the success of the inaugural program in 2011 and look forward to once again honoring industry pioneers who devote their careers to building an astute workforce armed with the knowledge and tools to combat growing cyber threats."
To nominate someone for the categories listed above, visit www.isc2awards.org and select 'Americas ISLA'. Nominations for the Americas ISLA Program will be accepted through June 1, 2012. ISC-squared will host a gala dinner in conjunction with its second annual Security Congress to announce and honor the winners on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, Pa.
