TAMPA, Fla. Ć¢ā¬ā (Feb. 11, 2008) Ć¢ā¬ā Former U.S. Attorney General John D. Ashcroft will discuss the critical need for innovative security technologies that strike a balance between access, privacy and usability in a keynote address at InfoSec World 2008 sponsored by Ceelox, an industry leader in biometric software and encryption solutions.
"Personal and corporate data continues to be compromised at an alarming rate, in part because people are reluctant to use security tools that are too cumbersome to incorporate into their regular routines," said Gerry Euston, CEO, Ceelox. "But effective security solutions do exist that strike a balance between convenience, security and privacy. Biometrics in particular allow virtually anyone or any business, with little or no inconvenience, to protect their proprietary information to a greater degree than ever before."
Ashcroft will deliver "Defending Liberty: The Inescapable Imperative for Technology Innovation" at InfoSec, which takes place in Orlando, Fla. March 11-12. His address will touch on a number of critical areas, including the relationship between security and liberty, the fundamental right of individuals and businesses to protect both their information and right to privacy and the emergence of biometrics as a solution to the most pressing information security issues.
"Despite the many advances that have been made in the area of information security, there remains a significant gap between our ability to maintain privacy and our ability to provide the necessary level of prevention and protection needed to defend liberty," said Ashcroft, Chairman of The Ashcroft Group, a strategic consulting company for domestic and international corporations. "Biometrics can play a critical role in resolving these issues by providing advanced security solutions that reinforce and enhance our ability to secure data in a way that protects, rather than invades, individual rights."
Ceelox and The Ashcroft Group collaborate on security-related issues and defining appropriate biometric encryption measures for their respective clients under a strategic alliance formed in 2007. The Ashcroft Group also holds an equity position in Ceelox and Ashcroft is a member of the Company's advisory board.
"InfoSec is the ideal venue for a comprehensive discussion of biometrics and the importance of identifying usable, convenient technology tools that fully secure information. Ceelox is honored to make John Ashcroft's presentation possible," said Euston.
In addition to sponsoring Ashcroft's presentation at InfoSec, Ceelox (Booth #401) will feature its software security suite that includes Ceelox ID and Ceelox ID Online, which secure device and network logins via fingerprint biometrics to provide the highest level of security readily available today; Ceelox Vault, which delivers powerful file and folder encryption and decryption to protect sensitive data; and Ceelox SecureMail, which provides powerful encryption solution that comes with an easy-to-use Outlook plug-in and protects against message interception.
"Most security solutions fail because they are too complicated, confusing, time-consuming and expensive. That is why we designed our biometric tools for easy deployment, with little or no need for enterprise infrastructure changes," said Kass Aiken, President and COO, Ceelox. "Our security and encryption tools are suitable for any size organization and address the three most critical security needs Ć¢ā¬ā identity access management, data and file encryption and email security."
