Harris Corporation has received certification from the National Security Agency (NSA) for its Sierra II programmable cryptographic module

OCHESTER, N.Y. -- Harris Corporation, a leading supplier of software-defined tactical radios for worldwide defense forces, has received certification from the National Security Agency (NSA) for its Sierra II programmable cryptographic module. Sierra II is now NSA-certified for the protection of voice and data traffic up through the Top Secret/SCI level. Harris has been highly successful in providing Type 1 NSA certified embeddable security products to the U.S. Government.

Sierra II is a very small cryptographic device that can be embedded in a variety of voice and data products that require encryption of classified information prior to transmission or storage. Sierra II also performs advanced key management functions. The ability to reprogram Sierra II for different encryption needs greatly simplifies equipment upgrades for the user. Sierra II is targeted at applications requiring small, low-power, low-cost cryptographic solutions. It is ideally suited for portable (battery operated) devices requiring high-grade security.

"Harris continues to be a leader in the design and manufacture of high- grade, embeddable encryption products," states Dick Rzepkowski, Harris RF Communications Division vice president, Government Systems and Programs. "Sierra II is ideal for a range of encryption applications and secure wireless LANs, including many U.S. crypto modernization efforts."

Sierra II is targeted at securing the critical communications infrastructure of the U.S. Government and is ideal for numerous Homeland Security applications. Due to its small size and low-power requirements, Sierra II is a leading candidate for military sensor programs, UAVs, munitions security, and other key systems that require the highest levels of information security.
