Apani Networks today released new VPN clients for Cisco 3000 VPN gateways that allow secure 802.11 and GRPS connections from popular mobile devices from Dell, HP and Siemens that use Microsoft Windows operating systems.

The supported Microsoft systems include Windows Mobile 2003, Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition and Windows Mobile 2003 SE.

"As the popularity of mobile computing devices increases, it does blur the network's edge and increases the potential security risks for corporate IT," said David Lynch, vice president of marketing, Apani Networks. "We are pleased to provide Cisco 3000 VPN gateway support for these devices to secure their wireless connections back to corporate networks. Apani continues to set new standards for placing trust back into trusted network environments."

The Apani software has undergone Beta testing since early May and general availability is scheduled for June 20. The company released a Nortel Contivity VPN Gateway for the Macintosh OS 10.4 earlier this month.
