CA's John Sabo Appointed to DHS Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee
HERNDON, Va. -- Computer Associates International, Inc. announced that John Sabo, CA's manager for Security, Privacy and Trust Initiatives, has been appointed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as a member of its Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee. The committee will advise the secretary and the chief privacy officer of DHS on issues that affect privacy, data integrity, and data interoperability programs of the Department.
Sabo is a recognized leader in addressing security and privacy policy implementation. Leveraging his 24 years of government experience, Sabo is aggressively working toward establishing mechanisms by which government and private-sector companies can effectively use technology to manage security and privacy risk.

"Data privacy policies are deeply connected to technology and operational decisions, and must be managed in the context of the DHS's complex mission, as well as the requirements of the Privacy Act and other laws and regulations. DHS is to be commended for welcoming outside expertise as it addresses these nationally important issues."
Sabo serves as an appointed member of the Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board (ISPAB), which provides reports and recommendations to the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Office of Management and Budget. He has also been instrumental in the development of a privacy services framework which bridges privacy policies and technologies with his role as an officer of the International Security, Trust and Privacy Alliance (ISTPA).
Sabo is also very active in private-sector organizations addressing critical infrastructure protection issues and serves as a board member and secretary of the Information Technology-Information Sharing and Analysis Center (IT-ISAC), where he also chairs the IT-ISAC Policy and Technical Standards Committee. He also is secretary of the ISAC Council, which provides a forum for addressing cross-sector issues related to security threats and vulnerabilities.
