Top national systems integrator Tech Systems and solutions provider Securitronics announce merger

Sept. 30, 2022
The two security companies will blend their expertise in both physical and cybersecurity to create a robust service provider

Buford, GA, Sept. 27, 2022 – Terry Rivet, CEO/President of Securitronics has been a long-time friend of Tech Systems CEO Darryl Keeler. In fact. they both served together on the PSA board for seven years. Prior to the COVID-19  pandemic Rivet had approached Keeler testing the waters about a future acquisition of his company by Keeler and Tech Systems. Rivet acknowledged to his friend that he was weighing his potential exit-strategy options, and while Keeler admitted Tech Systems wasn’t looking at acquiring a company now, he asked his colleague to give him the first right of refusal when he firmed up his plans.

Last week, both parties pulled the trigger. Tech Systems, Inc, one of the largest employee-owned (ESOP) systems integration firms in the security industry, has announced its merger with Securitronics™.

For 31 years, Securitronics' Rivet, has poured his energy into serving their clients and providing security to protect people and property. This same drive and customer service focus exist with Tech Systems, Inc. which makes this merger a perfect match. Rivet wanted to make sure whatever he did would serve his staff and clients just as well as it would serve himself. Securitronics has a very similar culture to TSi.

"Terry was aware of us becoming 100% employee owned in 2015 and felt that would be a huge benefit to his team for their years of service.," said Keeler, adding that TSI brought the Securitronics team into the ESOP based on their tenure with Securitronics which resulted in anyone who been there for five or more years being 100% vested in the ESOP their first day with Tech Systems. " We continued to discuss the potential of a merger and the the pandemic hit, we both agreed to table our conversations until we all got our bearings with COVID. In late 2021 we continued our discussions and reached an agreement this summer."

The appeal of the merger for both companies was the level of business continuity the two business leaders shared.

“TSI is an exceptional company that matches our culture, our goals, our commitment to each employee and to providing security to help protect the people and property of our friends and clients,” said Terry Rivet, CEO/President.

From an operational perspective, the merger is expected to be seamless as the two companies become one under the Tech Systems brand. “We are excited to combine our efforts together to continue providing F.O.C.U.S.TM service nationwide. We have known for a while, our companies’ culture would create an incredible force together which will continue to strengthen Tech Systems, Inc. as one of the nation’s top security integrators,” said Darryl Keeler, CEO and sole owner of Tech Systems, Inc.

Securitronics is headquartered is in Rochester, New York. Its teams provide critical security solutions with a 24/365 response capability. They serve security needs in healthcare, commercial, manufacturing, multi-tenant, and schools.

Since 1987, Tech Systems has been a leading provider of security systems and solutions. With strategically located teams in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico, Tech Systems ensures response times and system functionality guarantees across all industries. In 2015, Tech Systems became a 100% employee-owned company. In 2020, Tech Systems achieved Certified Evergreen® Company status.

"The merger resulted in TSi obtaining valuable resources in western New York during a time that hiring was very difficult. Securitronics obtained a depth of technical resources to better serve their clients with emerging technologies along with an extensive back office team for administrative support," said Keeler.

This business merger validates their commitment to being privately held resulting in a long-lasting, innovative business for their clients. Tech Systems, Inc. is headquartered in Buford, Georgia.
