RapidFire Safety & Security Acquires Access Systems in Northern California

The acquisition adds access control, video surveillance and other integrated security capabilities to RapidFire's regional operations.

RapidFire Safety & Security has acquired Access Systems Inc. (ASI), an El Dorado Hills, California-based provider of integrated security solutions, expanding its electronic security capabilities in Northern California.

The acquisition adds ASI’s expertise in access control, video surveillance, intrusion alarms, intercom systems and turnstiles to RapidFire’s portfolio of fire protection, life safety and electronic security services.

ASI has operated for more than two decades, providing planning, design, installation and maintenance services for integrated security systems. The company employs a team with more than 70 years of combined experience in systems integration, networking, project management and design.

“We are excited to welcome Access Systems (ASI) to the RapidFire family,” said Brian Modglin, chief operating officer of RapidFire Safety & Security. “ASI has built a strong reputation for delivering quality Enterprise level life safety solutions. This strengthens our presence in California and Northern Nevada and reinforces our commitment to providing customers with Enterprise level expertise.”

John De Sousa, Western regional manager of RapidFire Safety & Security, said the acquisition complements the company’s existing low-voltage business in Northern California.

“With the addition of Access Systems portfolio of services, we continue our rapid growth trajectory in our region and further expand our presence throughout the Northern California marketplace,” De Sousa said.

According to the announcement, ASI customers will continue receiving service and technical support while gaining access to additional resources through RapidFire.

Brandon Herd, president of Access Systems, said the decision to join RapidFire was based in part on the companies’ shared commitment to employees and customers.

“My family and I are confident that RapidFire will carry on the legacy of ASI and will continue to facilitate growth by building upon the excellent reputation that ASI has built over the past 24 years,” Herd said.

RapidFire, headquartered in St. Louis, provides commercial fire protection, life safety and electronic security services across the Midwest, Southwest and Western United States. The company is led by founder Mike McLeod and co-founder Colin Harrold and is backed by Concentric Equity Partners.

Buchanan, Ingersoll & Rooney served as legal counsel for the transaction.
