Detector Electronics Showcase New Generation Fire and Gas Detection System

July 20, 2006
EQP systems offers addressable fire/gas detection and extinguishing for harsh industrial settings

MIAMI, Fla., July 18, 2006 — Detector Electronics will display the Eagle Quantum Premier® (EQP), the latest generation in the successful Eagle control system product line, at its booth, #915, during the coming Americas’ Fire & Security Expo. Detector is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

EQP is an addressable fire/gas detection and extinguishing agent release system integrated on a fault-tolerant digital communication network. The EQP System is ideally suited for harsh industrial applications requiring hazardous location ratings and may be configured with two EQP controllers as a redundant pair, with one controller acting as an active standby for the other, which provides increased system availability.

The Eagle Logic Solver (ELS), a point-to-point system, is designed to complement the EQP system for applications requiring Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 2 approval. This system has SIL 2 and non-SIL certified modules to provide a flexible configuration, depending on the third party certification requirements.

A benefit of using third party certified products such as ELS is the certification report, which provides the customer with information on restrictions of use, diagnostics coverage, and certification to reliability statistics. Detector Electronics was the first manufacturer in the flame and gas detection industry to market products that are third-party certified to all parts of IEC 61508, the standard that defines the SIL system.

Detector Electronics is a world leader in optical fire detection, gas detection, and hazard mitigation systems, designed for critical SIL industrial applications. Detector Electronics designs, builds, tests and commissions safety systems that range from conventional panels to fault-tolerant, addressable systems. Det-Tronics flame and gas detectors are globally certified to the latest product approvals standards. UTC Fire & Security provides fire safety and security solutions to more than one million customers throughout the world, and is headquartered in Connecticut, USA.
