PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. --

A man believed to have robbed multiple banks in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Collier counties since 2005 has been arrested.

Steven Gass was arrested by the FBI on Tuesday afternoon in Miami Springs. He is the suspect whose nickname has changed from the "Joker" to the "Old Man Bandit."

Authorities said Gass has been linked to bank robberies in Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Coral Gables, Delray Beach, Doral, Greenacres, Hollywood, Naples, Palm Beach Gardens and Pinecrest.

Gass served nearly 10 years in federal prison after he was convicted of committing a series of bank robberies in South Florida nearly a decade ago.

FBI agents called him the Joker because they said he would present a note to tellers that stated, "This is not a joke."
