A New York man has been arrested and charged with participating in a dozen Long Island bank robberies.
Jason Ross, 29, of Elmont, N.Y., was arrested after surveillance camera videos prompted public tips allegedly linking him in the 12 robberies of banks in Nassau County, mostly in Oceanside, Franklin Square and Valley Stream. Nine of the robberies took place in 2008 with three others in 2004, robbery squad detectives told Newsday.
In one robbery, Ross allegedly handed a teller a note threatening her and her family. In another case he allegedly got away in a red car driven by a woman, although it is unclear whether police are seeking an accessory. In a third case, Ross allegedly dropped some of the stolen cash when a dye pack exploded, police said.
