According to a story published by The Clarion Ledger, the city council in Jackson, Miss., has voted to repeal an ordinance that required convenience stores in the city to have a security guard onsite between midnight and 5 a.m.
In addition, the ordinance, which was initially enacted last fall following several convenience store shootings, also required store owners to submit a security plan to the city.
One councilman quoted in the story said that no store owners would have been able to meet the stringent requirements under the law.
