Nedap Launches AI Update to Help Retailers Prioritize High-Impact Crime Incidents

Nedap says its new AI Smart Mode update for iD Cloud LP is designed to help retailers cut through growing volumes of loss prevention alerts by surfacing incidents most likely tied to organized retail crime and significant financial loss.

Nedap has introduced a new artificial intelligence update for its retail loss prevention platform designed to help retailers identify and prioritize incidents tied to organized retail crime and other high-impact losses.

The company announced AI Smart Mode, a new capability within its iD Cloud LP platform that automatically evaluates incoming loss prevention events to surface incidents deemed most likely connected to organized retail crime or significant financial impact.

According to the company, the update is intended to help retailers reduce the time spent reviewing lower-priority alerts and enable faster investigations by directing attention toward the most critical incidents.

Andrew Lipof, director of loss prevention and ORC strategy at Nedap, said many retailers continue to face challenges not only in gaining visibility into store activity but also in determining which incidents require action.

“With AI Smart Mode in iD Cloud LP, we help teams focus on the incidents that matter most and act on them faster,” Lipof said in the announcement.

Nedap said the AI model was trained across a broader retail ecosystem rather than a single store environment and is embedded throughout the iD Cloud LP platform to support detection of both internal and external theft. The company said the system continuously improves through user feedback and incident outcomes, allowing prioritization accuracy to increase over time.

The update is designed to integrate into existing iD Cloud LP workflows with minimal configuration, according to the company.
