DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson named '2016 Person of the Year' by NYC chapter of ASIS International

Award to be presented at the ASIS 26th New York City Security Conference & Expo next month

Alexandria, Va. (Mar. 4, 2016) – ASIS International (ASIS) will honor United States Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Charles Johnson with the ASIS New York City Chapter’s 2016 Person of the Year Award at a special luncheon at noon on Thursday, April 28 in New York City. The annual awards luncheon is part of the 26th New York City Security Conference & Expo, hosted by the ASIS NYC Chapter. The largest regional conference for security and law enforcement professionals will take place April 27-28, 2016 at the Jacob K. Javits Center. ASIS International (ASIS) is the leading organization for security management professionals worldwide that crosses industry sectors.

“Born, raised and residing locally, Secretary Johnson’s connection to and support of New York City is notable. He has demonstrated his dedication to the men and women in law enforcement and security throughout his career as a public servant and private attorney,” remarked Craig M. For these reasons, it is our honor to recognize his accomplishments and extend our appreciation with this year’s Person of the Year award.”

Secretary Johnson’s career has been one concentrated in public service. He possesses extensive experience in national security and law enforcement, having served as General Counsel for the Department of Defense (DOD), General Counsel of the Air Force and an Assistant U.S. Attorney prior to joining DHS. While at the DOD, he led more than 10,000 military and civilian lawyers across the department and oversaw the development of the legal aspects of many of our nation’s counterintelligence policies. More than 2,200 security practitioners, corporate decision-makers, and law enforcement personnel from Maine to Florida and across the nation are expected to attend. Full conference registration includes a luncheon ticket. Single tickets may be purchased in advance or on-site for $75 each. Tables of 10 can also be reserved.
