The mother of a Baltimore woman killed by a security guard employed by U.S. Protect Services has filed a lawsuit against the company.
According to police accounts, Jerry Bennett shot his girlfriend, Latasha Harris, in the apartment they shared and then shot himself. Both Harris and Bennett died as a result of their wounds.
Harris' mother has filed a lawsuit, claiming U.S. Protect Services employed Bennett and provided him with a gun to use in protecting government buildings. The lawsuit claims U.S. Protect should have confiscated Bennett's gun after he attacked a coworker a day before he killed Harris. The lawsuit seeks $10 million in damages against the security company.
