Covenant Lands San Francisco International Screening Contract

TSA OKs Illinois company to be screening contractor, contract worth over $300 million
Nov. 3, 2006

Covenant Aviation Security, a security screening contractor in Bollingbrook, Ill., was approved today by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to operate screening services at San Francisco International Airport.

While all screening services after 9/11 were overtaken by the TSA, the TSA created an "opt-out" process where the administration could approve private screening contracts through its Screening Partnership Program.

According to a statement announcing Covenant's approval, Lockheed Martin Information and Technology Services will be a subcontractor to the screening process. The total contract that Covenant received is estimated to be valued at roughly $314 million, and includes screening operations for passengers, checkpoints and checked baggage. The implementation is expected to begin immediately.
