WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Council of Investigation and Security Services (NCISS) announced U.S. Capitol Police Special Agents Crystal Griner and David Bailey are this year’s recipients of the 2017 John J. Duffy Memorial Award. The John J. Duffy Memorial Award is named for NCISS’s first President, John J. Duffy, co-founder of Per Mar Security Services. It is the council’s highest honor and is given every other year to a person or entity outside the NCISS membership, who is being honored for their specific service, heroism or other exemplary deeds. Previous “John J. Duffy Memorial Award” recipients selected this year’s honorees.

This year’s recipients, U.S. Capitol Police Special Agents, Crystal Griner and David Bailey, are being honored for their bravery and heroism for their acts in stopping a shooter and saving the life of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) and others at a softball practice in Alexandria, Virginia on June 14th, 2017. U.S. Capitol Police Special Agents, Crystal Griner and David Bailey, will be honored at the NCISS annual Hit the Hill Luncheon, in the U.S. Capitol Building, on March 20th, 2018. Representative Steve Scalise (R-La.) and other Representatives and Senators will be joining NCISS to honor U.S. Capitol Police Special Agents Crystal Griner and David Bailey. The special event is only open to those attending the NCISS Hit the Hill Conference. To learn more about attending the conference or general information, go to www.NCISS.org.

Brad Duffy, President of Security Officer Services at Per Mar and 1st Vice President of NCISS, said, "Special Agents Griner and Bailey are true heroes and I can't think of more deserving individuals to get the award named for my grandfather. They have demonstrated an example of selflessness that all of us should strive for."
