i-PRO has announced a new Remote Head Camera, a compact modular camera system designed to bring edge artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to environments where space constraints, aesthetics or installation requirements make conventional cameras difficult to deploy.
Built on the i-PRO S-Series platform, the Remote Head Camera delivers the capabilities of standard i-PRO cameras, including edge-AI analytics, cybersecurity and ecosystem integration. Its modular design separates the camera head from the processing unit, allowing for discreet installation in tight spaces, customer-facing environments and embedded applications.
Potential applications include point-of-sale (POS) terminals, automated teller machines (ATMs), reception areas and equipment enclosures. The system enables organizations to extend intelligent security into locations that have traditionally been difficult to monitor without compromising performance, functionality or cybersecurity.
“Organizations across industries are increasingly leveraging AI to improve security, operational efficiency, and decision-making,” said Gerard Figols, chief operating officer at i-PRO. “From retail stores and banking branches to industrial facilities and other demanding environments, customers often face a common challenge: deploying advanced technology in locations where space and installation constraints limit their options.”
Figols said the Remote Head Camera extends the company's edge-AI platform to environments where conventional cameras cannot be deployed.
“By combining advanced edge-AI, open-platform integration and cybersecurity by design, we continue to transform cameras into intelligent sensors that provide actionable insights and enable faster, more informed decision-making,” he said.
The camera offers imaging capabilities that include up to 144 dB wide dynamic range and a field of view of approximately 135 degrees to address challenging lighting conditions in close-range and embedded applications.
Its cybersecurity features include Zero-Trust Cybersecurity, FIPS 140-3 Level 3 compliance, secure boot and signed firmware. The system also integrates with i-PRO Active Guard to support advanced search, visualization, faster investigations and operational insights.
The modular architecture is intended to simplify system design for integrators by supporting camera head options for indoor and outdoor deployments, along with flexible mounting configurations. This approach allows integrators to address a range of customer requirements using a single platform.
The i-PRO Remote Head Camera is expected to be available in January 2027.
