Integration comes alive at ESX…thanks to Axis, Milestone and Paxton

July 7, 2010

Thanks to Axis Communications, Milestone Systems and Paxton Access, Security Dealer & Integrator magazine was able to present a live, integrated video and access control solution onsite at the recent ESX show in Pittsburgh. We’ve videotaped it (thanks to SIW’s Geoff Kohl) and posted it so you can see just how this worked—and it did work well! (Watch the video explaining this integration project.)

SD&I Publisher Carol Enman, who orchestrated the integrated solution at the booth, introduces the players in opening remarks. James Marcella, director of Technical Services for Axis Communications in Chelmsford, Mass., talks about how the demonstration “shows integration and interoperability, which allows integrators the ability to select their products and integrate with card access or access control. It’s a straightforward integration with eight cameras.” Tim McCarthy, Senior Product Sales and A&E Manager for Paxton Access Inc., Bellevue, Wash., takes the ‘stage’ next, letting viewers know “how easy it is to integrate three separate components with the TCP/IP protocol and basic switch and through software connect them all together.” Eric Arthur, Solutions Engineer for Milestone Systems Inc., Beaverton, Ore., said the goal overall was to show its simplicity. “What’s typically thought of as difficult” is easy to achieve, using video management software to tie alerts and events from video and access control. Check out the video synopsis of this project.
