Schlage to Launch Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt With Hands-Free Unlock
Schlage announced its new Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt will be available for purchase beginning June 29, 2026, introducing the company's first smart lock featuring its new Schlage Converge technology.
Schlage Converge uses Ultra Wideband (UWB) and a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch home key to provide hands-free unlocking. According to the company, the technology is designed to understand a user's intent to enter by calculating speed, trajectory and motion, unlocking the door as the user reaches it rather than relying solely on geofencing or proximity detection.
"At Schlage, we are committed to delivering innovative, reliable, and high-quality products and experiences to our customers who trust us to secure their homes," said David Perozzi, general manager, Allegion Home. "Sense Pro is a testament to this dedication, offering hands-free unlock and enhanced convenience for everyday life, while upholding the Schlage legacy of trusted security."
The Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt is also Schlage's first smart lock to support Matter over Thread, enabling integration with smart home ecosystems through a Thread-enabled Apple Home hub, including compatible Apple TV 4K and HomePod devices. The company said the connectivity standard is designed to provide fast, secure and reliable performance with low latency.
Built-in WiFi allows homeowners to manage the lock remotely through the Schlage Home app. Users can lock and unlock the device from anywhere, manage up to 250 unique access codes, schedule automatic locking and customize settings. The app also offers three hands-free unlocking modes — intuitive, touch and delay — allowing users to tailor operation to their preferences. The lock can also be managed through the Apple Home app and incorporated into smart home automations.
Schlage said the Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt is expected to deliver up to six months of battery life under standard usage. The lock includes low-battery notifications on its touchscreen and in the Schlage Home app. If the batteries are depleted, a built-in USB-C jumpstart port provides temporary power to restore access.
The lock is also Aliro compatible and, once certified, is expected to support Aliro digital keys in Samsung Wallet and Google Wallet later this year. Schlage said Samsung and Google devices equipped with UWB will support hands-free unlocking while NFC-enabled devices will support tap-to-unlock functionality.
The Schlage Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt will retail for $399 in the United States through Schlage.com and online national retailers including Amazon, Lowe's and The Home Depot beginning June 29, 2026. In Canada, it will be available online and in stores at The Home Depot for $549 beginning the same day.
