Gallagher Security has launched an integration with ASSA ABLOY IP locks aimed at simplifying access control installation in challenging environments while reducing the costs and complexity associated with traditional wired systems.

The integration removes the need for extensive cabling and door controllers, making installation easier in retrofit and hard-to-wire locations. Gallagher Security said the solution is particularly suited to U.S. higher education environments including residence halls, classrooms and research spaces where mixed online and offline operation, flexibility and ease of deployment are essential.

The integration also applies to government facilities, enterprise campuses and institutional and healthcare environments that require security across distributed sites.

The integration supports ASSA ABLOY IN120 battery-powered Wi-Fi locks and IN220 PoE IP locks, which connect directly to an organization’s on-premises IP network. Access privileges, credentials, schedules and overrides are managed centrally through Gallagher’s Command Centre platform.

Local intelligence at each lock enables independent access decisions, allowing the locks to continue operating during network outages. Gallagher said this capability is important for environments such as residence halls, labs, secure offices and remote buildings.

Security and IT administrators can also access visibility into events, alarms, battery status, audits and device health through Command Centre. The information supports proactive management and faster response to issues.
