August Home Creator Debuts Smart Door

Jason Johnson, the creator of the August Smart Lock, came to Pepcom and CES with a new company called Doma, which is embedding smart lock capabilities along with automatic opening and closing into the doors itself.

Security Business Editor Paul Rothman caught up with Jason to get a quick overview of the soon-to-be-released technology.

Doma WelcomeDrive is a motorized opener and closer that authenticates the homeowner and opens the door automatically as they approach using UWB, then securely closes it. Advanced radar, motion, and facial recognition sensors detect movement and identity for secure access. It also features an electronic, high-security multipoint door lock and an interior security and home control panel.
