SIA Women in Security Forum Launches 7th Annual CAN DO Challenge
The Security Industry Association (SIA) Women in Security Forum (WISF) has launched its seventh annual CAN DO Challenge, a charitable initiative aimed at combating food insecurity during the holiday season. The campaign runs through Dec. 1, 2026.
Organized by the forum’s UpliftHER Subcommittee, the challenge encourages security industry professionals and organizations to support hunger relief efforts through financial contributions and volunteer activities.
This year’s initiative offers two participation options: CAN DO Local, which encourages individuals and companies to support organizations in their communities, and CAN DO Virtual, an online food drive benefiting Food Bank for New York City.
“We’re making it easy for individuals to participate and contribute this year,” said Katie Krug, SIA WISF UpliftHER Subcommittee co-chair and senior account executive at SAGE Integration. “People can shop our virtual food drive and purchase specific food items or make their own custom donation and thanks to the Food Bank for NYC’s reach and purchasing power, every dollar donated helps provide five meals.”
Participants in the virtual food drive can select specific food items or make custom financial contributions. According to SIA, each dollar donated helps provide five meals through Food Bank for New York City.
The CAN DO Local component encourages security professionals to volunteer at food pantries and homeless shelters, deliver meals to homebound individuals and senior citizens, organize workplace food drives or contribute financially to local food banks.
“Nearly one in five children in the U.S. lives in a household facing food insecurity. As a mother, helping to close that gap and feed those in need is important to me,” said Colleen Bourbonais, SIA WISF UpliftHER Subcommittee co-chair and human resource manager at IndustrialEnet. “The CAN DO challenge is an incredible way to make a meaningful, hands-on impact for families who need support within your own local community.”
The campaign also includes a fundraising opportunity at ISC East, where attendees can contribute to the virtual food drive at the Mission 500 booth (#825). Mission 500 will match donations made at the booth up to $2,500.
Participants are encouraged to share their local and virtual activities on social media using the hashtag #WISFCanDo.
The SIA Women in Security Forum works to promote, recruit and cultivate women’s leadership within the security industry. Its other initiatives include the SIA Progress Award, the WISF Scholarship Program, professional development opportunities and networking events.
