Genesis Security has reduced daily motion-based alerts by 62% through an integration of Milestone Systems XProtect Corporate and AI analytics from Actuate, according to the companies involved.

The Puerto Rico-based security integrator developed a centralized remote video monitoring operation designed to serve multiple industries across the island. Prior to the integration, Genesis operators received more than 96,000 motion-based alerts per day, a volume the company said made it difficult to quickly identify real threats.

By combining Milestone’s XProtect VMS with Actuate’s AI-powered filtering, Genesis reduced that volume to approximately 37,000 verified events per day. The company says the reduction improved the speed and accuracy of emergency response operations.

AI Filtering streamlines threat verification

Genesis provides security and monitoring services for entertainment venues, residential communities, airports and government facilities throughout Puerto Rico. Milestone’s open architecture allows the company to connect cameras from multiple manufacturers across thousands of sites, while Actuate’s analytics integrate through Milestone’s protocol interface.

According to the companies, Actuate receives JPEG images only when motion occurs, reducing bandwidth consumption. For advanced analytics such as weapon detection, higher-resolution video streams are accessed through Milestone’s ONVIF network bridge, with alerts delivered directly into the event server.

The combined solution detects and classifies threats including intrusions, loitering, crowd formation and weapon detection. Operators receive only verified alerts, enabling the monitoring team to focus on actionable events.

Centralized monitoring built for island infrastructure

When a verified threat is identified, operators use Milestone’s real-time map visualization to track individuals across cameras. Loudspeakers can be activated to deter intruders, while the nearest security officer is dispatched. Genesis reports having more than 60 operational units available around the clock.

All alerts, live video and dispatch workflows are managed through Milestone’s centralized interface, allowing coordinated response across multiple client sites.

Genesis designed the system to address Puerto Rico’s infrastructure challenges, including electrical instability and mixed communications networks. The company implemented redundant video servers with automatic failover, hybrid fiber, wireless and LTE connectivity and distributed servers at customer sites linked through Milestone Interconnect.

Genesis employs more than 5,000 personnel and serves a range of industries. According to the company, more than 20 residential communities have transitioned from traditional guard services to its virtual monitoring model, positioning the centralized approach as a scalable option for multi-site security operations.
