Integrated Security Technologies co-founder will be recognized during Securing New Ground

SILVER SPRING, Md. – The Security Industry Association (SIA) has named Andrew Lanning as the 2020 recipient of the SIA Progress Award, an honor presented by SIA’s Women in Security Forum to celebrate individuals who pave the way to success for women in the security industry. SIA will present the award to Lanning during Securing New Ground on Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Lanning is the co-founder at Integrated Security Technologies, a member of SIA’s Cybersecurity Advisory Board, and holds a board of directors position with – and serves as the defense industrial base sector chief for – the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s InfraGard Hawaii Members Alliance. Lanning is an avid advocate of the SIA Women in Security Forum, a group open to all SIA members that offer programs, professional development opportunities, networking and career-advancing events to support women’s growth in the security industry. Through his Security Matters videocast program, he promotes and encourages women by giving them a platform and a voice to share their expertise and feel empowered to flourish as leaders in our industry.

“Our customers, our communities, and our country require our vigilance now more than ever. It’s incumbent upon the entire security industry to persevere and to adapt during this pandemic, progress isn’t optional,” said Lanning. “I am happy to be of service to the SIA community and grateful for the opportunity to represent our amazing SIA Women in Security Forum. On behalf of all our members, thank you sincerely for this award.”

Through his work with the SIA Women in Security Forum, Lanning was heavily involved in the launch of the SIA Women in Security Scholarship Program. This scholarship program furthers educational opportunities for the broadest spectrum of people and empowers all to thrive in the industry. Lanning was instrumental in developing a donor program to support the new scholarship program when it launched earlier this year; the donor program received nearly $52,000 in gifts in its first year, an astounding figure that grew in large part thanks to Lanning’s constant championing of the scholarship program.

As a sought-after speaker at many conferences on topics related to workforce development, business leadership, cybersecurity and systems integration, Lanning has made it his personal mission to work with event organizers to diversify the speakers at security events and is a constant advocate on why growing female leaders and working with women is good for business.

“In recognition of his commitment as a leader in furthering the growth of diversity and inclusion and the advancement of opportunities for women in our industry, we congratulate Andrew Lanning as the recipient of the 2020 SIA Progress Award,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson. “Andrew’s enthusiasm for the mission of the Women in Security Forum programs is inspiring and his actions serve as an example for all of us to emulate.  Andrew’s gracious manner and sharing of expertise are among the any reasons the SIA community respects him so much.”

SIA’s Women in Security Forum supports the involvement of women in the security industry. Through programs like the Progress Award, regular profiles of female security business leaders in industry publications, professional development offerings and networking events, the forum engages both men and women who share this goal.

SIA’s Progress Award recognizes SIA members who have shown excellence in their advancement of opportunities and success for women in the security industry. Each year’s recipient is determined based on their contributions to fostering women in the industry, promoting women’s professional growth through mentorship and/or sponsorship, recognitions and awards for related activities, and demonstrating the highest levels of professionalism and integrity in the security industry.

Along with presenting the Progress Award, SIA will also honor industry leaders during 2020 Securing New Ground with the George R. Lippert Memorial Award and Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award.
