TrafFix Devices is highlighting its Urbanite™ Pedestrian Wall, a pedestrian barrier designed to improve safety and simplify deployment in pedestrian zones, events and construction sites.

The Urbanite features a lightweight design that weighs 23 pounds, allowing it to be lifted, deployed and repositioned without machinery for rapid setup and reconfiguration. Despite its low weight, the barrier incorporates a double-walled, non-flexible construction intended to enhance structural integrity and long-term durability. Manufactured from high-density UV-stabilized polyethylene, it is designed to resist fading and damage caused by prolonged sun exposure for year-round outdoor use.

Each six-foot section includes blow-molded male and female connectors that enable multiple units to be securely linked together. The barrier's three-inch profile is intended to reduce storage and transportation space requirements, while 10 molded-in vertical windows help reduce wind load, lower weight and improve stability without limiting visibility. A continuous ergonomic handrail along the top is designed to provide a secure grip for guiding pedestrians through controlled pathways.

The Urbanite also features two integrated steel T-legs that swivel into place for deployment and fold flat for stacking. Molded-in stacking lugs and matching receiver holes are designed to improve transport and storage efficiency. Openings at the base allow water to pass through to help prevent accumulation during rain and maintain stability in wet conditions.

To support visibility and event branding, both sides of the barrier include two recessed 8-inch by 53-inch panels that can accommodate reflective sheeting, signage or sponsorship graphics. The barrier also includes mounting locations and shelves for two barricade lights to improve nighttime visibility while helping reduce light rotation during use.

Unlike many pedestrian barriers, the Urbanite does not require water or sand ballast, eliminating the need to fill or drain the units. It is offered in high-visibility orange and white with custom color options available upon request.

TrafFix Devices also highlighted its ADA Wall for projects requiring ADA-compliant pedestrian access. The barrier is designed to create hand-guided pathways that comply with ADA standards and features continuous upper and lower handrails to assist pedestrians, including individuals using mobility devices.

The ADA Wall incorporates low-profile steel T-legs intended to reduce tripping hazards while maintaining a clear walking path. High-visibility reflective panels improve visibility during both daytime and nighttime conditions and 10 molded-in vertical windows are designed to provide visibility for guide dogs. According to TrafFix Devices, the ADA Wall is fully MASH Tested, Passed and Eligible as a TL-3 Longitudinal Channelizing Device.

The company said the Urbanite and ADA Wall reflect its focus on safety, efficiency and compliance across a range of pedestrian control applications.
