Athena Security has launched an AI-enabled Weapons Detection Support Center designed to proactively monitor, diagnose and resolve system issues across its weapons detection deployments.

The new capability continuously monitors system health and connectivity, using automated processes to address common operational and configuration issues in real time. The approach is intended to reduce the need for customers to manually generate support tickets or troubleshoot system disruptions. When automated remediation is not possible, the platform generates a ticket and routes it directly to Athena’s operations team for follow-up.

The company describes the initiative as a shift from reactive support to proactive system management, with built-in mechanisms to detect potential failures and initiate corrective actions before they affect screening operations.

A key component of the Support Center is offline resiliency. In the event of network, database or cloud connectivity disruptions, Athena’s weapons detection systems are designed to continue operating locally. If a connection to a central management system is lost, the platform automatically switches to an offline mode, caching critical data on edge devices such as tablets until connectivity is restored. Once reconnected, the system synchronizes stored data with the central environment.

Organizations can access real-time system status and historical performance data to monitor uptime and operational health.

Core features of the Weapons Detection Support Center include:

  • Continuous real-time monitoring of system health and connectivity
  • Built-in offline mode with automatic local failover
  • Automated remediation for common operational and configuration issues
  • Local data caching and post-recovery synchronization
  • AI-generated support tickets when manual intervention is required
  • Direct escalation to customer security operations or technical teams

If an issue cannot be resolved automatically, Athena’s operations team is notified and coordinates directly with the customer to address the problem.

The Weapons Detection Support Center is now active across Athena’s installed customer base and is included as a standard feature for new deployments.
