TRUCKWATCH is the name of a new police scheme to help hauliers tackle crime.
The membership scheme, originally launched in South Yorkshire, features a communication network to keep truck drivers and operators up to date about stolen vehicles and loads.
It also offers security advice for yards and depots and regular updates on freight crime trends locally, nationally and internationally.
Funded by Yorkshire Forward, it works in partnership with the Road Haulage Association, Freight Transport Association, Vehicle and Operator Services Association, and Crimestoppers.
A 24-hour Truckwatch desk passes on details of stolen vehicles and loads to all members and drivers by voicemal onto mobile phones.
Det Sgt Howard Brown of Humberside Police Crime Policy Unit, said: "This is an important crime reduction development within the force area and we are hoping it leads to the prevention and detection of crimes involving good vehicles."
