Hunt Valley, Md. (February 5, 2020) – Dunbar Security Solutions (DSS) and Dunbar Security Products (DSP) jointly announce that President and CEO Kevin Dunbar is now the sole owner of both companies. As the third-generation owner, Kevin Dunbar continues Dunbar’s nearly 100-year legacy as “The Most Trusted Name in Security.”
The Dunbar brand dates to 1923 when the Dunbar Family co-founded a cash-in-transit company in New England. Over the years, the company has expanded to add numerous new divisions and business lines focused on cash-in-transit, manned guarding, cash vault services, security systems, and cash management products.
Kevin Dunbar has been with the Dunbar companies since 1980 when he began on the sales team of both Dunbar Guard and Armored. He was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 1998, President in 2001, and CEO in 2003. During his progression with Dunbar Armored, he focused heavily on upgrading technology, the diversification of service offerings, and equating the Dunbar brand with best-in-class service. In 2018 he oversaw the sale of Dunbar Armored to Brinks in 2018 and assumed sole ownership of the remaining Dunbar companies in late 2019.
Ernst & Young recognized Kevin as an Entrepreneur of the Year in 2008. He intends to utilize the drive, experience, and spirit that brought him into such recognition with this new direction of the Dunbar brand. Today, Dunbar consists of two separate and distinct companies. DSS is a leading provider of manned and electronic integrated security services for commercial, industrial, and corporate clientele across the Mid-Atlantic region. DSP manufactures and provides innovative tamper-evident plastic bank deposit bags, banking supplies and cash management products for banks, retail organizations, local governments and other cash-centric companies throughout North America.
