SILVER SPRING, Md. – The Security Industry Association (SIA) has selected Min Kyriannis as the 2020 recipient of the Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award, an annual distinction recognizing leadership in security industry collaboration. Kyriannis is the managing director of EMD | JMK and co-president of the Women in International Security (WIIS) New York. SIA will present the award to Kyriannis during Securing New Ground on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

“Creating and extending partnerships is emblematic of Min Kyriannis’ incredible spirit of sharing expertise and openness,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson. “She has consistently advocated for industry collaboration among many industry stakeholders and brought people and organizations together on important topics and initiatives. SIA congratulates Min as this year’s Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award recipient.”

Through her active role in SIA’s Women in Security Forum, Kyriannis has fostered strong collaboration with WIIS New York, resulting in many joint events that have benefited security stakeholders and members of both organizations. Kyriannis also previously served as the vice-chair of SIA’s New Product Showcase Committee and serves as chair of SIA’s Cybersecurity Advisory Board.

She has led many collaborative efforts that have resulted in positive contributions to the cyber and physical security and the broader security industry. She has worked with IT strategists, cybersecurity experts, interest groups and many government entities to bring awareness to the importance of cybersecurity for physical security and building management technologies, and has also addressed such varied topics as employee wellness and human trafficking.

Kyriannis has also helped support a number of other partnership initiatives, including a webinar partnership between SIA and the Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) and the Cyber:Secured Forum conferences, which brought in cyber expertise from SIA, PSA Security Network and ISC Events.

“Collaboration is essential in any industry. Not only does it allow for the convergence of different sectors, but it allows for the cross-pollination of different mindsets, which leads to the development of new ideas to evolve into so much more,” said Kyriannis. “But most importantly, the opportunity to meet amazing people who have the growth mindset and develop long-lasting partnerships (and friendships) is the most valuable of all. I have met so many amazing people (and you know who you are)!”

SIA named the Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award in honor of security industry veteran Jay Hauhn. During his tenure as SIA’s chairman of the board, Hauhn demonstrated a steadfast commitment to fostering cooperation among industry trade associations. This award recognizes a leader who embodies that spirit of collaboration in the industry.

Along with presenting the Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award, SIA will also honor industry leaders during 2020 Securing New Ground with the George R. Lippert Memorial Award and the SIA Progress Award.
