Integration brings social connection to video surveillance, allowing users to view security cameras from Facebook accounts

MILPITAS, CALIFORNIA, May 7, 2012 — The integration of mobile technology and social media continues to develop at a rapid pace, as tools evolve and apps become easier to navigate on the move.

Leading video surveillance and remote monitoring company mobiDEOS Inc. today breaks new ground in mobile and social media convergence as the company becomes the first to authenticate remote surveillance capability with Facebook, the world’s leading social networking site.

"Our mission is to continually enhance the ease of bringing remote video to our customers, and helping them obtain remote location intelligence by leveraging their existing camera systems for social, productivity and security purposes,” said Sri L. Palasamudram, CEO of mobiDEOS.  “Facebook authentication marks the next evolutionary step for our MobileCamViewer application.”

The move gives users of MobileCamViewer, the company’s popular mobile surveillance application, more freedom and security when remotely viewing webcams, IP cameras, DVRs and NVRs online and on the move.  Customers need only remember their Facebook login and password information to access their security equipment and remotely monitor businesses, homes and other locations — enhancing ease of use and simplifying life for consumers already tasked with remembering multiple passwords.

mobiDEOS officially launches Facebook integration over its WebView application, which allows MobileCamViewer customers to view their cameras and video systems from fixed locations.  The Facebook integration will soon follow for the iPhone, iPad, and Android smartphones and tablets.

The simple nature of logging into Facebook makes remote surveillance far more convenient, giving business owners and operations managers a quicker and more convenient way to monitor locations and respond to situations — and giving homeowners a more direct path to peace of mind through a social connection to video surveillance.

“Facebook integration truly gives our customers convenient access to their cameras and security systems from anywhere in the world through the use of today’s most popular social media tool,” said Palasamudram.  “Valuable video can now be more easily put to use in multiple ways to improve operations, productivity and safety for all of our customers.”

MobileCamViewer first broke ground by bringing video surveillance to iOS, Android and other mobile devices, freeing users that were tied to the desktop or laptop for remote site monitoring.  The technology enables users to leverage their devices’ available video feeds and bandwidth — most of which is unused by the consumer — to make intelligent response decisions to security-related events.  MobileCamViewer makes this possible by giving users convenient access to their video systems via an easy-to-use mobile surveillance application.
