Axis Introduces Q6088-E AI-Enabled PTZ Camera With ARTPEC-9 and AV1 Support
Axis Communications has introduced the AXIS Q6088-E, a new AI-enabled PTZ camera built on its ARTPEC-9 system-on-chip platform, expanding edge analytics capabilities and advanced video compression support.
The camera supports the AV1 codec, designed to improve bandwidth efficiency while maintaining high image quality. Powered by the ARTPEC-9 processor, the device is capable of running analytics applications directly at the edge.
AXIS Object Analytics comes preinstalled, enabling detection, classification, tracking and counting of humans and vehicles, including differentiation among vehicle types. The camera also features AXIS Image Health Analytics, which monitors video quality and alerts users if the image becomes blocked, redirected, blurred or underexposed.
Additional functionality includes Autotracking 2 with click-and-track capability for active object tracking. An orientation aid feature supports dynamic text overlays to provide contextual information within the video stream.
Cybersecurity protections are supported by Axis Edge Vault, the company’s hardware-based platform designed to safeguard device integrity. The platform includes FIPS 140-3 Level 3 certified secure key storage and cryptographic operations.
