Genetec Inc., a global leader in enterprise physical security software, has introduced new investigation capabilities in its Security Center SaaS platform designed to help organizations resolve incidents faster, even across multiple sites, systems, and camera vendors.

Investigations in large organizations often span multiple facilities, campuses, or regions and rely on footage and data from dozens or even thousands of cameras and devices from different vendors. Traditional tools, which are often built for single-vendor environments, can slow teams down as investigations expand, especially when initial information is limited or incomplete.

Building on last year’s intelligent search features, Genetec said its enhanced investigation tools keep evidence, decisions, and contextual information connected from the first incident report through to case closure. This approach avoids duplicated work and repeated searches as investigations evolve.

The new capabilities use AI-powered natural language search to turn everyday descriptions, such as clothing details or approximate times, into actionable searches across multiple video feeds. Investigators can narrow results using contextual cues like location, nearby activity, and events that occurred before and after an incident.

Relevant footage can be reviewed quickly through a timeline preview, enabling teams to scan video, confirm key moments, and narrow time ranges without watching full recordings. Investigators can follow people, vehicles, and objects across scenes, visualize movements through trajectory analysis, and piece together how events unfolded over time.

Evidence can then be consolidated into a case, with video clips, snapshots, and related material automatically organized chronologically and enriched with contextual tags. AI-assisted features generate summaries of video clips, helping investigators document findings, share outcomes with stakeholders, and close cases more efficiently.

The unified investigative experience combines natural language search, similarity detection, entry and exit detection, contextual analysis, visual trajectory search, and case and evidence management. Security professionals can transition from live monitoring to active investigations, collect and review evidence, and securely share results—all from a single interface.

As of February 2026, Genetec will roll out the new investigation capabilities to Security Center SaaS users, with additional features introduced on an ongoing basis. The tools aim to reduce investigation time from hours to minutes while keeping operator control and transparency intact.
