Verkada introduced new third-generation bullet cameras, expanded AI-powered alerts and next-generation access control solutions as part of a broad platform update.

Verkada announced a series of updates across its AI-powered physical security platform, introducing new camera models, expanded alerting capabilities, enhanced emergency response tools and updated access control and visitor management solutions for healthcare environments.

The company said the updates include new generations of bullet cameras and access control units, broader AI-powered alerting functionality and enhancements to healthcare-focused visitor management workflows.

“Every update we make to Verkada's platform is focused on giving security teams the right tools for the right situations,” said Brandon Davito, senior vice president of product and operations at Verkada. “Whether it's identifying operational issues with AI-powered alerts or customizing emergency response protocols, we're building a platform that brings all of the functionality required for complex enterprise security operations with the simplicity and ease of a modern, cloud-based platform.”

Among the updates are new third-generation bullet cameras available in wide-angle and telephoto configurations with 5MP and 4K resolution options. Verkada said the cameras deliver improved video quality and field performance while continuing to support AI-powered unified timeline, AI-powered activity detection and license plate recognition capabilities. The company also introduced optional infrared and white light illuminator attachments designed to improve image capture in low-light and nighttime conditions.

Verkada also expanded its AI-powered alerts and detection capabilities with a new inactivity detection feature. The functionality is designed to notify security teams when people or vehicles are absent from a designated area for a specified period of time. According to the company, the feature can help organizations identify operational concerns such as unattended entrances or businesses that may have closed earlier than expected. The alerts can be configured for specific camera regions, multiple cameras or entire sites.

Additional AI-powered enhancements include new vehicle line-crossing detection, which can trigger alarms when vehicles enter a site. Verkada also added support for line-crossing and loitering triggers on third-party cameras through its Command Connector, allowing organizations to extend detection capabilities to existing camera hardware.

The company said it also enhanced emergency response functionality within its Command platform by adding new door lock and unlock configurations aligned with the I Love U Guys Foundation Standard Response Protocol scenarios, including Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter. Verkada noted the protocols are used by more than 78,000 schools, law enforcement agencies and organizations worldwide.

On the access control side, Verkada introduced its next-generation four-door controller, the AC43, featuring redesigned circuitry intended to improve reliability and built-in support for cellular backup connectivity to maintain operations during network outages. The company also announced the AC43-G, a government-grade version with FIPS-validated encryption for organizations with elevated compliance requirements. Verkada said the AC43-G expands its compliant access control offerings across one-door, four-door and sixteen-door controllers for government agencies and contractors.

Verkada also announced general availability of its AF64 Access Station Pro, which combines a multi-technology reader, 5MP wide-angle camera, single-door controller and interactive touchscreen into a single device for secure access management.

For healthcare organizations, Verkada said it continues to expand functionality within Verkada Guest with support for separate check-in workflows for adults and minors. The new capabilities include custom questionnaires, integrated document signing and automatic screen translation.
