Verkada Compound Alerts give organizations a more precise way to configure alerts around the specific events and scenarios they care about. Compound Alerts allow organizations to combine multiple alert conditions to get notified when motion and attribute criteria are met simultaneously. Verkada alerts can detect activities like an individual moving, crossing a line, or loitering in an area, while Compound Alerts allow organizations to narrow down those results based on their specific use cases.  

Users first select an initial condition based on person detection, line crossing, or loitering. They can then add filters including a person of interest, people list, smart list, or custom AI query, such as “person not wearing high visibility vest” or “person with face fully covered.”  

For example, a manufacturer may require employees to wear hard hats near heavy machinery. With Compound Alerts, an organization can configure an alert to trigger only when a person gets close to a machine and is not wearing their hard hat. This helps avoid notifications every time someone gets close to the machine or whenever someone without a hard hat is detected elsewhere on the manufacturing floor.

Other examples include getting notified when a smart list detects an unknown individual who is also loitering in a secure area, or when a person carrying a large bag crosses a line to enter a store.
